Mix together 1/4 cup cornstarch and 1 cup water, and add to the saucepan of juices. Stir thoroughly before putting the saucepan over heat. Now, move the saucepan to a burner on your cooktop. Turn the heat on to low, and cook the gravy, stirring constantly. If the gravy is too thick, add a little water at a time until it is smooth and of perfect consistency. In making this recipe, I added 1 extra cup of water to thin the gravy to a perfect ...

Crock Pot Beef RoastJan 26, 2012
Any beef roast however, each cut of beef has it's own flavor. We prefer chuck roast or a rump roast. Any type potatoes will do and any size carrots are fine. Red onions are sweet whereas yellow or brown onions are not. Either will do. This can be done in a pot on the stove if it's cover is tight or in oven at 350 degrees for several hours. The lower the temperature the longer it must cook. The slower the cooking time the more tender the beef. Don't try to get it done quickly so this is good for a cold day to heat the house from the oven. I love my dutch oven which is black cast iron and more than 50 years old. They just don't wear out.
